Kitchen Corner July 2010
News Item
It’s been a busy month in the kitchen. Re: Indonesian cooking, I was the cook’s helper for a change. I really enjoyed the different spices and ways of cooking. There was always a reason why my fried rice is never called ‘nasi goreng’ it just isn’t. At the end of the night I enjoyed this extra hot serve of a delicious meal. Yummy yummy!! Last Friday the Klaverjassers celebrated their 6-monthly dinner night. This time it was bitter ballen, prawn cocktail, rissoles in mustard sauce and tiramisu after. Thanks to a few great helpers everything went smooth. They all know who they are and they also know that they are appreciated for their input. Thanks Guys. (And girls) For the celebration weekend 17 & 18 July we need a few helpers. To help out in the kitchen or the bar: I am not asking anyone to offer themselves if they can’t stand up or lift a plate. But if you can and are willing to help even for a couple of hours, that would be great. The Saturday concert is almost booked out, so it will be a busy day. My hubby had to go to a book presentation on that Friday. This was organised by Nepean Migrant Access, where he also is the president. The book is about high school youngsters interviewing migrants and refugees. Three of our Rembrandt Club members are part of the book and we are very proud of this. On a different note: our lovely great grandchildren will be visiting us for our wedding anniversary in August. For that occasion I am looking to lend 2 car seats and a cot. I also mentioned this on the notice board, hoping to find these items amongst the membership. See you in the shop…. Mia
