Kitchen Corner March 2010
News Item
Last Saturday morning there were people all over the place at the club. Concrete levelling was being done when I arrived. The air conditioners were almost connected and two hours later the place was cooling down. After feeding the workers lunch, I started getting things ready for the Carnival night. And than before you know it, it is midnight and time to go home and have a drink…. I am usually the designated driver when there is something on at the club. It still allows me one or two drinks and that is plenty when you work. Many times we have been stopped by the booz-bus and were lucky to have been sensible. Arriving home, usually after midnight, the first question is: coffee tea or bonox? In my case the bonox means Passion Pop and yes that is what I will have 9 out of 10 times. And watching a good midnight movie will relax the worn out body. I know Leny does the same, but without the Passion Pop. Sometimes at the club we (Leny and I) will have a toast with a glass of water. That is to keep the humor going. It does feel like people are too scared to enter the kitchen.’ Scared that one of us will tie them too the sink’. Well, that will happen only if you ask for it. Last Saturday we were lucky that the dishes were done by a helpful volunteer. Stuart was too sick and so sorry to miss out on a good night and leave us in the lurch. No worries there will be plenty more opportunities for you Stuart. Wilhelmina did a great job and I am sure she will be back. Because we look after our volunteers and never treat them like slaves.
