President Report July 2010
News Item
Our Indonesian night “with a difference” was just that, in that the food was excellent and the music really good. The “difference” was that all the cooking was done by volunteers of the younger generation. If the younger members can get involved like this, the future of our club looks really good. This trend is not just the case in our club. At the last meeting of the Federation of Netherland Societies our other two Dutch clubs reported similar views. The Neerlandia had a big celebration of 45 years Card Federation and all the work was done by the younger generation, and the Dutch club in Wollongong reported a very successful night organised and patronised by the second and third generation. We strongly believe that the next generation can take over, but it is up to us to give them that chance. They have different ideas and needs than our generation has, but that does not mean that our Dutch culture cannot continue to be part in this multicultural society. Talking about culture; I strongly recommend that you come and have a look at our Rembrandt Birthday Art and Craft exhibition. We have been working toward this day for the last 6 months to make sure that it will be a great success. See you all on Sunday the 18th of July. The club is open from 11am to 4pm. John Joosten
