President Report December 2011
News Item
Another year nearly gone. Time is flying. It is therefore good to slow down and reflect on life and family during the Christmas period. If you look around the world, than we are not that bad of. We are indeed very fortunate to live in a democratic country that is doing reasonably well for this day and age. So look at the bright site of life and enjoy the festive season with your loved ones. On behalf of the board I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year . John Joosten President
News from the Federation The Federation of Netherland Societies has undertaken some big projects in the past 44 years. Such as the establishment of the Juliana and Abel Tasman Villages, KLM flights to Australia, the CACP (Dutch home care) the NSW Holland Festivals, the Senior Holidays and many others. As times are always changing so is the interest, outlook and future of the Federation Over the last year one of the new adopted projects has been set in working. A small committee has been formed to look at the following: > Where are we heading > What will be left after we are gone > What will become of our assets Be they financial or our collective knowledge of the past
The intention is to facilitate the establishment of a “DUTCH HUB” where our historical archives can be kept for future reference. Where those that are interested may come and research their “Dutch Connection”. A place where we can display exhibits of our art and records, photographs and perhaps verbal stories of our time here in Australia. What was Australia like in the 50’s, or whenever we came here? How has it changed, thanks to your input.
The HUB will be owned by every one, held in trust for future generations. The board of the Federation is looking for further interest and ideas regarding this project. If you can assist please feel free to contact the secretary Mr Peter Hamer 31 Asquit Avenue Rosebery NSW 2018 hamerpjc@optusnet.com.au
